2008: Climate and energy
The national INNOFINLAND 2008 prizes of the President of the Republic
were given out for the 15th time at the National Board of Patents and
Registration of Finland on 16 December 2008.
Five INNOFINLAND prizes of equal value and three honorary mentions were
awarded in the contest. The winners received an INNOFINLAND sculpture
and a certificate of honour.
The prize-winners represent innovative Finnish companies that have
responded to the needs of both consumers and companies in a creative
way.
The theme of INNOFINLAND 2008 was ”Climate and energy”. This topical
theme brings forward companies that have come up with the idea to
develop products and services that help stop global warming and
preserve energy. This year 161 competitors entered the contest. In
relation to the number of entries, Uusimaa, Satakunta,
Etelä-Pohjanmaa
and Pohjanmaa were the most active provinces to participate in the
contest.
Together with the chair of the INNOFINLAND jury, CEO Matti
Enäjärvi,
and chair of the working committee, Executive Director Juha Jutila,
President of the Republic of Finland Tarja Halonen presented the
national INNOFINLAND 2008 prizes to the following companies:
Biovakka Suomi Oy,
Vehmaa, clean energy from a biogas plant
Finnchain Oy, Rauma, a
floating sludge removal system for sewage treatment
iLoq Oy, Oulu, an
advanced and self-powered electric locking system
Preseco Oy, Espoo, a
comprehensive solution for the treatment of abattoir waste
St1 Biofuels Oy,
Helsinki, biofuel from waste
Honorary mentions were awarded to:
Enervent Oy, Porvoo,
efficient energy recovery in ventilation systems
Korpikorpi Pikakuivaus
Oy, Vantaa, a drying system and service concept for buildings suffering
from damp
